Instead of Stallone on the breadline, Kermit The Frog dons his baker’s whites to bring The Muppets to Bolton to star in their reimagined show in a Muppet extravaganza celebrating the giant crumpets.

VFX Supervisor Jason Watts oversaw the shoot and VFX work by our team returning to collaborate with Lowney and WCRS following the success of ‘The Deliverers’ campaign earlier this year.

‘It was great to return to work with Declan and the WCRS team especially to shoot The Muppets. Filming involved working across two units to cover the volume of shots needed, with a lot of time coordinating between the two crews. The supervision mainly involved monitoring the amount of rod removal that would be required and multiple green screen set ups. Some of the backplates from the previous commercial had to be matched in so angles and lighting needed to be carefully considered.’

Set in the Warburtons bakery in Bolton, the Muppets were all shot separately requiring compositing onto back plates. Watts comments, ‘The VFX work included posting in many different passes of Muppets. Some shots had over 30 Muppets all shot separately against blue and green screens.’ It was essential to ensure each Muppet was scaled to the correct character proportion from the heights of Big Mean Carl down to Pepe The Prawn.
