Hartley's Jellies / Jelly Wrangling
Karmarama have created a quirky new campaign for Hartley’s Jelly Pots, with a comically surreal new spot featuring a group of mischievous jellies trying to escape toys who are working together to put them into their pots. It’s a brilliant animation which has been shot using a variety of techniques. The spot has been directed by Partizan’s Chris Cairns, with Visual FX from Freefolk.
The spot comes to life through the combination of stop-motion animation and rig-assisted hand animation. Both of these techniques contribute to the spot’s playful elements, reinforcing the childlike nature of toys being played with.
The toys, which include a mischievous looking teddy bear, a duo of cymbal-wielding monkeys and a couple of plastic diggers, help chase the jellies into their pots. Once their playground-style game of chase is over, the jellies are shown to be an ideal addition to any child’s packed lunch.
The project was supervised by Judy Roberts on Flame with a grade from multi award winning colourist Paul Harrison. Freefolk's Jason Watts, Steve Murgatroyd, Kayley Fernandez, Julien Biard and Dave Clifton also contributed to the project whose 30” TVC airs on the 30th August with two 10” spots - ‘Soldier' and ‘Robot’ - being released online in September.
